1. Climate Change
PICO is in forefront in advocating of various climate change interventions within the
territories of Kajiado pastoralists’ community. The impact of climate change are being felt
throughout pastoralists societies and are compounding shortages related to land use
degradation or water shortages. In this regard, therefore, PICO have been organizing various
regional events to ensure mitigation of the adverse effects of climate change. These events
include advocacy and sensitization of the effects of climate change and afforestation.
  2. Livelihoods
Under this programme PICO builds strategic partnerships with ethical investors and
organisations skilled in nature-based enterprise development. Community benefits are then
increased through building capacity to engage in natural resource based enterprises such as
beadwork, table banking, ecotourism and carbon projects.
  3. Social Empowerment
PICO empowers women and girl child by supporting them to advocate for their rights to
own, utilise and benefit from land and property. It also addresses retrogressive cultural
practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM) which compromises human rights and are
    detrimental to the victims’ health.
  4. Education and WASH
PICO promotes basic education through provision of bursaries and mentorship programmes
at schools. It also endeavours to improve access to basic water supply and sanitation
    services to the community.
